Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
His lack of pace and ability to cover has been really evident in his last few games. Teams are rampant against us on the left wing. Playing him against Sessengon last night, seemed doomed from the start. The two early chances both came down the left, and although commentators berated Cresswell for not covering the run - my it was easy to get down the wing and cross the ball.
Ryan Fredericks is not that great - but he gets my vote to start - and although I respect Pablo Zabaletas work ethic and I'm sure he's a great example in training - his career is effectively over.
Anyone else agree?

having a couple of bad game means your career is over? noble should have retired years ago if that's how you measure things. zab was great this season up to his cold/flu/virus in january. no, I don't agree

Re: Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
No, he had a bad start to the game, after the first 15 mins looked ok, it happens. Thought Fredericks looked pretty good second half.

I don't remember you piping up and stating that playing him was going to be 'doomed' before the game and to suggest his career is over is fucking ridiculous.

Dickhead.

Absolutely ridiculous post.

Blimey! Writing him off already? I guess 5 minutes with a couple of errors is all it takes these days when one gets to 34.

Bin out-of-form, no, slightly out-of-form, players?

I suppose that would justify their ludicrously high wages, as all but the most consistent would have very short careers...

Let me guess, this bloke gets his footballing knowledge from Championship Manager?

Why has the modern day football supporter (this muppet is clearly about 15), got to find someone to dig out. Its almost become some kind of symbol of being a supporter that you have to do it.

Fuck me, if you think Zabeletta was bad in the last two games (and he wasnt that bad after the first 10 minutes), you should have been around 15 years ago when we had the biggest fucking liability ever to wander out of a bookies onto the left hand side of midfield.......

I make that one bad game.

Off to the knackers yard then? Fucking fickle aren’t we. He’s been one of our best players consistently since he arrived and a great club man.

Zabaleta is absolutely class. Yes he made a mistake he is human and not 21 years old anymore. Top pro and player and hope he is our number one RB next season

Re: Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
Knee-jerk thread and is a class act, but I hope he is not our first choice right back, the end of this season.

Re: Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
seems simple to me. if we're likely to be pegged back with technical players trying to pass it through us, zabaleta all day. if we're going to be bombing forward and hit on the counter then fredericks.

ideally we'd put zabaleta's brain in frederick's body but the PFA might have something to say about that.

Agree entirely apart from him being our No1 right back next season.

I certainly don't, he's becoming too easy a target for the opposition.

I personally think he will know it is time to step down.

Re: Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
I agree cartis that he doesn't have the pace. But money cannot buy experience and a mind like his. Reckon he has another season in him at first choice personally

For a while over the Dec period he was approaching the Julian Dicks level of performance. A month later he's finished. The modern day younger supporter summed up in one post.

Re: Demise of Pablo Zabaleta
Zab for me is in the running for Hammer of the Year. One of our most consistent players this year and one whose head never goes down even when things aren't running for us. Never hides, a bit like Noble, you won't see either bottling it, yes they will have bad games but whilst Frederik's is decent the only thing he has over Zabaletta is pace. Zab is invaluable next to Diop as well, his experience is essential so nope he isn't finished.
